Batik block printed cotton scarf S_188
by Indian Artisan
This fine cotton batik printed scarf comes from the Mundra area of Kutch, western India. Batik block printing is a wax resist technique. The block is dipped into wax and printed onto fabric which is then dyed and the wax removed.
I bought these two scarves directly from the artisan in his tiny workshop in a tiny village.
This scarf measures 55 x 202cm and is a Fair Trade product.
As with all things made by hand, expect some inconsistencies as proof of the process.
