Hand woven, indigo shibori dyed cotton scarf S_182
by Indian Artisan
This organic cotton hand woven cloth (known as Khadi) shows the flexibility of the artisans of the Kutch area of western India and their willingness to extend their repertoire of textile techniques. Here they have embraced the ancient Japanese technique of shibori dying, where the cloth is stitched and gathered tightly before dying. Natural indigo dye was used to colour this scarf.
If you look closely you can see the tiny holes in the fabric from the gathering thread.
This scarf measures 60 x 194cm and is a Fair Trade product.
As with all things made by hand, expect some inconsistencies as proof of the process.
